FUERTY WEDGE TOMB, COUNTY ROSCOMMON
This ruined Wedge Tomb, marked on both the Historic and OS maps as 'Dermot & Grainia's Bed', is located on a
bend on the R366, west of the town of Roscommon, 'Ros Comain'. The tomb, orientated NE - SW, consists of a
large gallery, 7m in length, with some side-wall stones protruding out of the cairn and a backing stone. The cairn
has covered in the chambers but two are distinguishable. The entire structure sits on top of a mound, 1m in height
and 10m in diameter and stones from the cairn are evident around the outside of the gallery walls.
