‘Druid’s Altar', Spiddal
No megalithic tomb is recorded in this area of County Galway. However, what Lady
Gregory may have drawn is marked on the OSI maps as ‘Mass Rock’ & refers to a
‘redundant record’ called Tully ‘An Tulaigh’ (RMP No. GA091-020). The structure
is marked on the 1841 and 1909 OS 6-inch maps as ‘Druid’s Altar’. It is located
NW of Loch Chloichrigh, close to the lake shore and west of the town of Spiddle,
‘An Spidéal’, County Galway.
