DUFFCASTLE PORTAL TOMB |
This must be one of those forgotten little gems of county Cavan. It is not gigantic by any means but it is still fantastic. It has collapsed slightly at the back from the weight of the near 2.4m capstone and 1 of the portal stones is missing but the other portal stone still remains giving it a height of 1.8m at the front and the door-slab is still in position. At the side of it,is what appears to be the remains of the cairn, now a field boundary. It is sited on the eastern slope of a small hill facing east and giving fine views over the Cavan countryside. |
