|MAYO STANDING STONE
|This fine standing stone, not marked on any OSI editions or Historic maps, is situated
a short distance SE of the highest point of a steep drumlin called ‘Mayo Hill’, east of
the town of Cootehill (Muinchille) & north of the court tomb at Cohaw and the R192.
It is an irregularly shaped upright stone slab, measuring 0.95m in height, 0.86m in
width & 0.23m in depth & is aligned NE-SW.
N.B. -: The newer editions of the OSI maps places the standing stone in the position of
the portal tomb at Mayo & vice-versa.
