This Wedge Tomb, marked on the OS map as 'Giant's Grave', is located west of the Tomeen River and east of the town of Ennis, 'Inis', close to a field boundary ditch. The tomb, orientated NE - SW, consists of two side-stones, a back-stone, a sill-stone and out-walling at the south side. Another erect orthostat, 2m north, may have been part of the outer-walling on the north side. The rectangular roof-stone, split horizontally, measures 2.4m in length and 2.2m in width and is supported by the two side-stones and the back-stone and has caused them to lean slightly SW. Cairn material is evident at the front and back of the tomb, with traces on the north side of the structure. |
