Located on flat ground west of Slidderyford Bridge,is this standing stone which is incorporated into a dry-stone wall. The stone extends on to the very south of the wall and is 3.2m in height,0.9m in width and 0.8m in depth. About 1m away on the other side of the wall, is the smaller stone, standing 1.6m in height,1.4 in width and 0.8m in depth. These appear to be remnants of a larger structure as it was recorded 10 or 12 pillar stones standing in a circle, which may imply the facade of a court tomb. The portal tomb at Slidderyford is located 300m NE of the stones. |
