Located on ground which gradually slopes down from the north, the site enjoys
unrestricted views to the south. It is located at the west edge of a field with the field
boundary running close to the west edge of the chamber. A short series of excavations
in 1956 revealed that the single chamber was located at the north end of the cairn,
which was trapezoidal, aligned N-S, over 33m in length and tapered from 10m wide
at north to 4m at south. The monument is dominated by the massive capstone which
weighs over 35 tons and is supported by 2 portal stones, side walls and an end slab.
