EIGHTERCUA STONE ROW |

This is a very impressive Stone Row, with four exceptionally large monoliths up to 3m in height, descending in height from west to east and extending E-W for approx; 10m. The south side of the stone row shows evidence of an enclosure, or the base of a cairn and remnants of a tomb adjacent to it are clearly visible. Local tradition says that it is the burial place of 'Sceine' wife of 'Amhairghin Mac Miled', 1st of the Milesians to arrive to Ireland and is believed to date from around 1,700 BC. |
