TINNAKILLA CIST COUNTY LIMERICK |
Its great to come across an intact cist like this now and again. It has a huge capstone held up off the ground by four large rectangular boulders leaving a wide low chamber below. It is aligned on a SW-NE axis similar to wedge tombs but has no outer-walling and no cairn material of any description survives. The capstone is 2.6m in length,2.2m in width and is .50m in depth. The chamber is very clean, save for a few small stones at the back and is only .35m in height off the ground. |
