Whiterath Standing Stone
County Louth
This bulky standing stone, marked on the OSI map as ‘Standing Stone’ & on the Historic map as ‘Stone’, is
situated in a level field, close to a field boundary, in gently undulating countryside, west of Promising (Droim
Ineasclainn). The standing stone, measuring 1.7m in height, 1.7m in width & 0.9m in section, is of local slate,
tapering from base to top. The stone is locally known as ‘Cloch Liath’.
