MONUMENT OF THE MONTH |
AUGUST 2013 |
This fantastic stone of rock-art is located 5m SW of the standing stone at Brackloon. Cup-marks and motifs cover almost the entire surface of the boulder which measures 2.4m in length,1.9m in width and at least 0.45m in depth. There seems to be at least 48 cup-marks with two cup and circles and a cup and groove motif. In the 1930's a grave was uncovered with built up sides and a flag stone and contained a skeleton just south of the stone. Buried near this was 2-3 piles of quartz pebbles. |
