KILCASKAN OGHAM STONE COUNTY CORK
This small ogham stone is located in Kilcaskan graveyard, just SE of the ruined church. The upright stone,
which has had the top of it broken off, is 1.2m in height,0.23m in width and 0.18m in depth. The inscription ran
over the head of the stone diagonally,so that it is on the dexter angle of both faces.
The middle part the inscription is lost as a result of the damage,so only the beginning and end can be read.
It reads "
LUGUQRIT ........LONAS" and Ziegler has dated it to 500 - 700 AD. The bullaun stone at Kilcaskan
is located on the south side of the road, east of the graveyard.
