CASTLEHILL II WEDGE TOMB |
This small Wedge Tomb, not marked on either the Historic or OS maps, is located south west of the village of Ballycroy, 'Baile Chruaich' and 200m north of the other wedge tomb is this townland. The tomb, orientated E - W, consists of a 3m long gallery with boulder shaped side-stones and one remaining roof-stone at the rear. The roof-stone now lies on top of cairn material which has filled in the front of the gallery, but the main chamber remains relatively free of this. The entire structure is surrounded by a low mound or cairn 0.5m in max; height and 5m in diameter. |
