KNOCKMAHON I OGHAM STONE

KNOCKMAHON 1 OGHAM STONE, COUNTY WATERFORD
This ogham stone was found lying in the ditch of the promontory fort against a field
fence on the eastern side. It has a fresh appearance and had been unearthed during
ploughing and placed out of the way against the fence. It measures 1.2m in height,
0.3m in width and 0.24m in depth. The inscription reads: 'SENAQ  MAQI  
MUCOIENA' and translates as 'Senaq descendent of Ena' and has been dated by
Manning to 600 - 650 AD.
