This fantastic stone pair is located just south of the N25,west of Waterford city. They
are sited on a level ,broad rise in a level pasture with expansive views north, west, and
south. Marked on the older OSI maps as 'Leganes' and on the 2005 maps as 'standing
stones', one of the two stones now lies prostrate. The standing stone measures an
impressive 3.8m in height, 1.3m in width, 0.40m in depth and is triangular in cross
section. The fallen stone is 3.35m in height, 0.6m - 0.76m in width, 0.3m in depth and
has a hole bored through it at midway point that maybe recent. Their orientation is
hard to say but the standing stone is orientated N-S, and this may point to the original
orientation of the pair. Only a proper archaeological excavation to find the original pit
of the prostrate stone can determine this.
